We are thrilled to announce that Lutheran Braille Workers (LBW) has been awarded a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of their National Storytelling Initiative to launch “Songs of Faith, Stories of Light.” LBW is bringing together singer-songwriters and members of the blind and visually impaired community to create music that shares powerful stories of faith, resilience, and hope.
Why does this project matter?
Over 9 million Americans are blind, yet only 5% participate in church life. This project seeks to bridge that gap, amplify voices often overlooked, and inspire the wider church to listen and learn.
LBW has provided Braille and Large Print Bibles and Christian resources worldwide at no cost since 1943. Today, we continue that mission by creating new ways for people to experience the light of Christ through storytelling and song.
Would you like to be involved?
We are inviting individuals who are blind or visually impaired to share their stories and welcoming singer-songwriters to collaborate. If you or someone you know is blind or low vision and would like to share a story, please contact us at rachel@lbwloveworks.org
